Perfect getaway!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our time at Cabin at the Cove. The cabin was so spacious and comfortable and had everything that we could possibly need. We all felt very much at home. The lake access is great and the cove is so quiet and relaxing for floating and swimming. The host was extremely accommodating and responsive. Highly recommend!!

Great long weekend

Spent three nights with my 2 sons and their sons age 10. Great property and location. Boys loved the fishing from the deck and swimming and fishing at the state park. Very comfort accommodations for the 5 of us for a boys weekend! Played games and no one missed the internet! A good unplugged weekend. Gorgeous views from the deck!

This was a fantastic week! My grandsons got up and started fishing at 5:30 AM every day. We played games every night. The lack of Wi-Fi was a blessing.

Great Stay

We enjoyed our long weekend at Cabin at the Cove. In for a family wedding and the cabin was clean, well appointed, well located and slept well. Everything we needed was there, and the Owner answered quickly when I called with a question. We loved the cabin and would stay again.

A nice stay at the lake

Five ~30 guys on a bachelor trip rented this property. We had a great time relaxing on the lake. The house was great, quiet, plenty big, and easy to find. We did utilize the dock on the second day which was great. No complaints, but do bring some coffee (they have the maker and filter) and shower products. The owners provided exceptional communication and were helpful. Would rent this again! Do note that there is one master bedroom and the rest of the "sleeping spots" are in the loft together. There are also couches on the main floor and basement for some separation. Overall had a great time and would *highly* recommend renting this spot!

Nice place

The property is nice and is in a great location on a cove of the lake. We were there for a Virginia Tech football game so we didn’t get to take advantage of all the cabin had to offer. It was clean and communication was easy. It is remote, but also not far from the interstate, so it was convenient to get to the grocery store, etc.

Great for weekend family getaway

Our family had a wonderful weekend stay at this cabin in July. This property has lovely views of the lake and surrounding mountains from a quiet cove. It has a long staircase down to its own private dock in the cove, which was something our sons enjoyed for fishing. We rented a pontoon boat from the nearby Mountain Island marina one day and we were able to pull up to the dock. The cabin itself is clean, spacious, and thoughtfully furnished with a variety of games, movies, and books, which our family enjoyed. The property owner, Trina, was friendly and responsive, and she made the check in and check out process easy for us. Overall our family drew closer to each other during our weekend stay at this cabin.

This cabin is a gem! Cozy and well appointed with everything you could imagine for our great weekend stay. Beautiful setting on the lake with gorgeous views. We will definitely be back the next time we are planning a VT Football weekend!

Cozy Cabin Getaway

We really enjoyed our trip to Cabin at the Cove - what a beautiful, serene setting! You can just tell the multitude of incredible memories that have been made here from the moment you step inside (my husband and I played a game of Chess against one another for the first time ever!). Great space, well stocked, and Trina is SO responsive - couldn't have asked for better communication. We were on a trip to attend the absolutely baltic Virginia Tech Football Game (Go Hokies!) Thanksgiving weekend and were so lucky to enjoy downtime in this warm, inviting cabin. Bonus you ask!? - The views! Would love to come back again in the future!

Great weekend away!

I booked the cabin for a surprise weekend away for my husband's birthday. It was an amazing experience and just what we needed. The cabin was quiet, clean and well-appointed with everything we needed to relax and unwind. The views were amazing and we enjoyed the opportunity to spend time outside just taking them and the quiet sounds of nature all weekend long. The cabin is also located a short drive from VT, where we were able to attend the spring game without any issues getting there or back. Finally, we also took the owners advice and had brunch at the Draper Mercantile, which was delicious. Thank you for sharing your wonderful cabin. We definitely want to come back!

Great 3-Day Getaway with Old Friends

Just like the name implies - a fantastic cabin on the cove overlooking the lake. Beautiful property inside and out. We were in town for the Metallica concert at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg. It allowed us the space and the place for some 50 year old college friends to reconnect after many years.Super communication with the owner. Looking at renting again with our families in the future.

Really great place to stay. Lake views after leaves fall from trees is amazing. The main bedroom and loft bedrooms are super cozy and nice. The owner was great to deal with and very engaged in the rental process. Would definitely rent again!

Great Fall Break location

My husband and I met a daughter who lives in DC and another daughter and two grandchildren from Kentucky for several days at the cabin. We hiked at the closeby rails to trails hiking trail, hiked and the kids even got in the water at the state park and we got kayaks delivered to cabin's dock for a day of kayaking. The kids played corn hole on the porch and we played games and worked puzzles at night. We watched some football too. It was perfect and we'd love to come back.

Relaxing

Check in was a breeze and was able to find property very easily with owner’s directions. The house was very clean and decorated very tastefully. We enjoyed the peace and quiet on the lovely wrap around deck. Swam in the cove quite a bit, the steps will definitely give you a workout. We rented a pontoon boat from Mountain2Island which I would highly recommend. It’s a beautiful lake and will likely visit again.

Bday get-a-way

We decided to rent a cabin as a spur of the moment vacation for our son's birthday. This was the only rental available for the dates we needed. It was just meant to be because it was perfect!!! Great cabin, great owners & great time!!!

Cabin on the Cove

So happy to have found this property! Clean and well appointed, everything we needed for our family of 4. Especially enjoyed the views off the decks and water access to a nearly private cove on Claytor. Trina was very helpful in advance of our visit, providing great directions to the house and referring us to a nearby marina for kayak rental. The folks at Mountain2Island were awesome, delivering 2 kayaks for our teens. We were there during the week, so very little boat traffic and the kids enjoyed being out on the water. Also good fishing and swimming off the property's dock. Location is also a plus- very quiet and private but close to town for shopping and beach access. We also enjoyed the short drive into Pulaski to pick up a River Turtles game on our last night. Will definitely return to Cabin on the Cove when we can!

Absolutely wonderful!

We had such a wonderful experience! The house was so nice, clean and decorated so cute! We spent Easter weekend and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook our Easter dinner. Trina was always available and when the power went out unexpectedly, she immediately had the power company out to get it going again. (Transformer-1, squirrel-0). I highly recommend this house and we plan to be back and get a boat rental next time!

A real mountain cabin experience - views, privacy, and all the amenities you need!

My family stayed at this lovely cabin for 4 days between Christmas and New Year's. We LOVED it! I recommend it to anyone! It is spacious and open yet cozy, and very clean, and well-maintained. You feel right at home (better than home, actually!). We were even delighted to have snow on the ground for that extra touch of a mountain cabin getaway. Wildlife was everywhere and there was plenty of birdwatching while sitting on the couch relaxing. The views were phenomenal. Mountains, lake, and that real cabin feel. It is down a private road on the cove, and the peace and quiet were just what we needed. The amenities were top-notch! They were more than we could have imagined! A FULL kitchen with everything you need - cookware, dishes, appliances - everything! We had THREE FLOORS to spread out! The upstairs is open and spacious with an amazing view out to the lake. It is bright and airy, with PLENTY of places to sleep. There is a bathroom upstairs along with games and books. The middle floor has the kitchen, living room, master bedroom and bathroom (this place just keeps going!) and a main bathroom. The master bedroom is incredibly cozy with the pine woodwork throughout. The bottom floor walks out to the lower deck (yes, there are two wrap-around decks!) and has a laundry room, bathroom, tv, couch, and game table (we loved playing air hockey). It was quiet and spectacular! All three of our kids (5, 8, 13) had endless fun. We enjoyed driving around the area and hiked nearby Claytor Lake State Park which was fantastic. We visited in the dead of winter and were beyond impressed. I can imagine being here in the summer is amazing!

Just right

Not too close to the water that motors whip by and wake you up at dawn, but close enough to appreciate the peacefulness of the water. Next time we will bring our kayaks and be able to access the lake from the dock below. (Although there are lots of stairs - they are very well maintained.) The cabin is exactly as depicted which made leaving the only disappointment of the stay. Open spaces, well appointed and the only thing we needed to bring was food. Be sure to pay attention to the directions you are provided to access it, as GPS will NOT get you there. Verizon coverages spotty, AT&T slightly better but really with a place like this, you’ll be thankful if work can’t reach you and needs to leave a message. Enjoy this beautiful peace just off the River. Thank you for sharing this delightful get a way. We hope to enjoy this space at least once each season.

We enjoyed a beautiful fall weekend overlooking Claytor Lake in this cozy, yet spacious, cabin. It was a great location to stay in to ride the New River Bike Trail out of Draper. Cabin had everything a family would need for a weekend getaway. We also appreciated a local boat delivery service, Mountain 2 Island, that the host recommended. We had a canoe tied up waiting for us upon arrival. Host is very welcoming and thoughtful!

My husband and I met some family here for a weekend getaway as it was roughly half way from where we both lived. What a great cabin! It has everything you need for a getaway with good sleeping arrangements for families. Kitchen was not lacking anything. The porch and views from both levels were beautiful- we happened to go when the leaves had changed and the views were fantastic. Even though we were rained out over the weekend, there were lots of comfy seats, toys, games, magazines and TVs/DVDs for entertainment .Hosts were very communicative, the cabin was very clean, and they even left us a welcome bottle of wine. Thank you for a great weekend away making lots of memories together.

Perfect Retreat: Home Away from Home

The cabin was very clean, cutely decorated, nicely located on the lake and within a short distance of the state park. Its charm made us feel like home. We loved the fact that we could rent watercraft from the marina and enjoy the lake, though the water had receded (only because of cautions related to the hurricane) making the dock access an issue. We easily headed to the marina and kayaked for half the day and then spent time at the beach at Claytor Lake State Park. This cabin is really homey and just what we needed for a relaxing get away!

A Perfect Getaway

Cabin at the Cove is a beautiful property! It was secluded, and had great access to the lake. The host was wonderful and was available for questions about the cabin and the area. The cabin was spotless and had many special touches, (games, corn hole, mini pool table and dark board.) that we enjoyed. I highly recommend kayak/boat rentals from Mountain 2 Island. They delivered and picked up - doesn't get much easier. I would highly recommend this wonderful Cabin for relaxation and fun.
